There are a number of variables to consider when preparing for kindergarten: birth date, family dynamics, temperament, social skills, gross and fine motor skills, attention, memory, organizational skills. Research has taught us that speech and language skills give us valuable information on a child's readiness to master the demands of a formal kindergarten classroom. Parents often need an unbiased opinion, or additional information to share with the school, and other professionals to gain a full picture of a child's readiness and abilities.
